Notes:

The wind was pretty strong out of the Northwest. I arrived at the lake right when the Monday night tournament guys launched at 6. The vast majority of them went north, I headed to the SE. Although they didn’t weigh in many fish, many boats did catch 1 or 2 nice keepers. I keep being told that there is a frog bite going on around the area, but did not have a single blow up on that at all. The only topwater that saw any action was the zara spook in the back of a cove over submerged grass.

Almost all the grass patches that were very thick on the south side of the lake in June/early July have died back now. I was hoping to still be able to target those edges, but there weren’t any, other than the usual reeds around the main lake. Most of my bites came on isolated cover, or above what submerged grass was left.

Tyler’s Final thoughts:

Another gorgeous night to be on Lake Jacomo. The air temperature was great, but the fishing just wasn’t that spectacular. It’s been that way all year it seems. I’m hoping to target the whites throughout the month of August if I can find the schooling activity. They came up for about 30 seconds and it was clearly much bigger fish than what I have been seeing earlier in the summer.
