To say it was a slow night is putting it mildly. The largemouth bass really did not want to cooperate. It seemed like the perfect afternoon with cloudy skies.
Water temp was 70 degrees at about 6pm, but dropped to 67 by 8:30pm.
I fished the north end of the lake where it was a bit more clear. South of the marina was cloudy. My goal was to focus on the back halves of coves again trying to find a similar topwater pattern that I found a few days prior. No luck.
A few other boats were focusing at the north end for largemouth bass as well. I spoke with a couple of them and they didn’t have much else to report either.
They had landed some nice fish earlier in the day, but the evening bite was slow. A couple of them were throwing topwater and only had one bite the whole evening. That’s better than I can say for me though. A senko was the most productive bait for them.
I finished my night working the south bank in sailboat cove. After no bites for some time, I decided to call it night, but that I would troll back to the marina. Best decision I made.

The flathead weighed in at 10.38 at its heaviest point on the scale. Caught him trolling a #5 flicker shad. There are tons of fish on the graph on the south side of sailboat cove so I figured I’d pick up a crappie or white bass possibly. I was perfectly happy to end the night with a nice flathead.
Although the “catching” wasn’t stellar, it was another great experience out on Lake Jacomo.
