What is Lee's Summit Area Fishing?
Lee’s Summit Area Fishing was born on a long road trip to Minnesota for some ice fishing in late February 2018. Both Tyler Mahoney and Payden Hays were beginning to fish bigger lakes in Lee’s Summit like Jacomo and Blue Springs, but good fishing tips were hard to come by. They thought there must be an option for good fishing reports but could find nothing up-to-date. So as they drove, they brainstormed how they could solve this problem. Soon, they had the answer. They would find the info themselves by creating a platform that would solve their dilemma – a Facebook group focused solely on “Lee’s Summit Area Fishing”.
At first, Tyler and Payden simply added folks from their friends lists into the group. It wasn’t long before LSAF members were adding their friends, too. Soon, daily fishing reports for the area were being posted along with plenty of tips and tricks to help fellow anglers find success locally. In the first year of existence, the group reached over 2,000 members and organized two trash pick ups around Longview and James A. Reed. LSAF has turned into a family-friendly, community driven group with a focus on fishing. There are many great things to come for this close-knit group of anglers, so be sure to join today!

Tyler grew up in Lee’s Summit and has been obsessed with fishing since he was young. His passion for the outdoors led him to create an outdoor brand, Mahoney Outdoors, which focuses on sharing hunting and fishing knowledge with others.
In 2018, he became the weekly outdoors contributor to the Kansas City Star and continues to produce stories for various magazines and websites in his free time. Along with Payden, he works every day to continue growing the LSAF community and ensure it is the best possible resource for anglers looking to have fun and find success on the water.
