One of the bass caught on the diving ghost shad squarebill crankbait.

Baits used:

1/10th oz Z-man finesse shroomz head in black with Finesse TRD colors: hot snakes and green pumpkin/black fleck. Bluegill pattern squarebill 3-5 foot diver, and 8-10 foot diving ghost shad squarebill.

Equipment used:

Abu Garcia Veritas spinning rod 6’ 9” paired with Abu Garcia silver max spinning reel, spooled with 8lb test Berkley vanish. 7’ vendetta Abu Garcia bait casting rod medium, moderate action, BPS cranking stick 7’ with medium heavy action. Both baitcasting rods paired with BPS pro qualifier 2 reels and both spooled with Berkley vanish in 12 lb test.

The gates to Prairie Lee don’t open until after 7am usually, so don’t worry about getting up at the crack of dawn to get there early. This is the “Prairie Lee Gate Wait”.

Notes:

Steep, quick sloping banks were today’s ticket for our success. Most fish came from 3-10 feet deep. Slight pops on the Ned rig yielded more bites compared to dragging or fast hard pops.

Thomas’ Tidbits:

Today’s sole mission was to get out on the water and get my wife her first largemouth bass. Success!! It was an honor to witness the joy and excitement she had the moment I heard “Babe, I got one, I got my first bass!!”

Remember, we all have the daily grind. Yet, we must remember to stop and enjoy the people around us and quality time spent together. Happy fishing and tight lines, friends.
