Notes:

Finesse was not happening today. I only had one bite midmorning on a ned rig. I ended up figuring out the only bite that was to be had was a reaction bite. I turned to banging a square bill off of rocks and brush piles.

Thomas’ Tidbits:

You ever have those fishing trips where something funky happens right off the bat and just screws up the rest of the trip? Well that was today. Any small, piddly thing that could go wrong, did.

There were probably a total of 15 boats on the water. With all those trucks and trailers, it doesn’t take long for a single lane ramp to back up, and boy did it ever. I managed to keep my patience and practice good ramp manners. I’ll admit, it was tough.

It took almost two and a half hours before the first fish hit the carpet of the boat. Eureka! Once I  figured out what they wanted, I was able to put together a sustainable pattern that I could repeat. All in all, it was a fun trip that gave me some adversity that I was able to overcome.

Part of the fun of fishing is figuring them out. It feels good to grind out a 4.4lb largemouth. Some of the other fellows I talked to were not having any luck at all. In the end, it was a beautiful day out in mother nature with the roar of two strokes, the smell of the water, and the sun on my skin.

Just remember, no matter how bad your day is going or how tough the fishing is, just keep GRINDING!

“Tight lines and happy fishing!!”

The waterfall on the east side of the lake can sometimes hold several fish below it.
